Oyster Mushroom Fried “Calamari”

That time I found oyster mushrooms in the market and remembered having seen a #vegan “calamari” recipe...

And I couldn’t find the recipe I was originally referring to so I made up my own.

And this is the result ⬆️


It’s actually pretty simple.

I just took a couple large oyster #mushrooms and sliced them into “calamari” looking strips and rounds.

I then mixed together for the breading:

1/4 cup rice flour

1/4 cup oat flour

1/3 cup wholegrain corn flour

Himalayan salt

Cracked black pepper

1/4 tsp garlic powder

I dipped each piece of mushroom into soy milk (Im sure almond milk works just as well) and then in the breadcrumb mix.

Then fried in oil (half seed oil / half olive oil)

Served with fresh parsley and lemon wedges.

It was delicious.

I don’t know what fried #calamari tastes like but I’ve always been drawn to it- the crisp ones of the breading and the lemon. 🍋

So I did this. If you ask me what it tastes like? Fried mushrooms. Really good fried mushrooms
